Welcome to Bishops Quay

Wishing a Very Merry Christmas to all our kind guests, and interested enquirers, from our waterfront holiday house,. Bishops Quay is to be found standing on a private quay alongside the Helford River. Bookings are being taken for 2015 –  weeks/dates can be secured – our New Year visitors leave on January 4th, so from then, there are many super holidays available in all of the seasons.

It is the little things that make a house a home. Attention to detail, care for your holiday plans and dreams, an easy, friendly warmth. Bishops Quay, on the Helford River, here in Cornwall, has been  most favourably featured in Coast, Country Living and Cornwall Life magazines. This lovely old property, inspected by Sawday’s, also Holiday Lettings, has twelve 5* reviews on TripAdvisor. A much loved holiday home for a quarter of a century.

The usefully flexible accommodation can suit differently sized groups –  from a quiet couple to a party of up to six adults and two small children. Dogs are welcome at Bishops Quay; they are able to exercise along the lane and often enjoy outings in the boats.  Prices shown are for the three bedroomed house, with a chance to book the large extra bedroom suite if required, which increases the rental by one third. There can be up to two bathrooms and three loos. The atmosphere is  characterful, spacious, private, quiet. Logs, dry, from our land, are provided for the open fire, as many as you need, all year around. Balconies and a pretty waterside garden are for warm days and the sunny late evenings. All set 1/4 mile away from the road, down a private track, with only river traffic and wildlife to catch your eye.

Our Visitors Book is full to bursting with happy memories of and thanks for numerous successful holidays taken over the years. Many guests return over and over; we are proud that Bishops Quay is clearly much loved. The house can be booked by contact with us through this site or to use credit cards, do come through Homeaway (property 984) or TripAdvisor – property number 70573 – showing a dozen or so, all five star, reviews.

A complete Helford River based retreat, entirely restful, relaxing, and reviving, altogether an exceptional escape from the everyday.   You can unwind from the moment you arrive.

Our first visit, what have we been missing. We have booked again for next year, which speaks volumes. Fantastic welcome along with excellent pre booking attention to detail. A real home from home. Enjoyed it all but highlights were taking EmmaSam down the river and the relaxing family time. Thanks Kate and Ben – see you next year.

The trip down the river to the Shipwrights Arms for supper in the motorboat, returning under that stars was memorable and truly magical  - to be highly recommended.  Fantastic, thank you x

Woke up to a glorious Cornish Spring morning on my 50th Birthday – and I’m sitting on the deck at Bishops Quay – as near perfect as you can get! Thank you Kate for all the little extras that went towards making it such a special week: BQ has now firmly lodged itself in No. 1 position as my favourite Special Place to Stay. With HUGE Thanks

When looking for a place to stay for a pre – Christmas break as soon as I found BQ there were no other options. Booking was so easy, Kate’s communications made sure we had all info we may need. What a magical home from home with such a warm welcome. Would love to return!!

Lovely spot to see in the New Year. Snug around an open fire with family and friends playing a tough game of Monopoly after a hard day on the boat catching three fish – exhausting but someone had to do it!

The only good part about leaving is looking forward to coming back! This was our 15th holiday here so that says everything about how wonderful this place is, including its very special owners.

A truly wonderful holiday in an exceptional home - what a find! The peace, tranquility and scenery make it an idyllic location. We look forward to a return visit.

We had a lovely peaceful stay here. So good to unwind and absorb the tranquillity of the surroundings, watch the tides change and enjoy the homeliness of BQ. Thank you Kate for all the lovely personal touches – the daffodils in every room, the delicious cakes (we’re definitely larger than when we arrived) and the eggs. The boys have had a ball too. Looking forward to returning and hopefully enjoying the bigger boats too!

As ever, we've enjoyed watching the river flow by - especially three fox cubs on the opposite bank, a weasel and the visitation of the swan family to the Quay!
